Ok, I probably say this every single time we fill in this little show review thingy, but last nights show with the Funky Fish Players and Isaac Improv was our best show EVER!!!! Everything was just so fun and exciting. We got to the Murray Hill Theater in relatively one piece, and we were joined by Tobin (the ladies call him Mixmaster T) and DJ Why's best friend, Chris. Chris drove four and a half hours from Lakeland just to see our show!
Anyway, we got there and set up on that magical stage, and chatted with the fellas from Isaac until it was time to start the show. We were all wondering what kind of turnout we would have on a Thursday night in another town, but we were not disappointed. There was a great crowd, with impressive representation from St. Augustine. The Funky Fish Players went on first. I didn't really see them because I was prepping in the backstage room...shared by POD and Five Iron Frenzy at some point! then it was our turn. The lights dimmed, the anticipation flowed, and the three vigilantes entered the stage. It was the Mr. Rogers' intro, huzzah! For the next half hour, DJ Why, Dr. G, and I stormed that wonderous stage, aweing the audience with our beats and bravado. We worked Pop-laiden Arms and perfected What Time is It? I also introduced a new rhyme called Como Se Dice?, written completely in Spanish. The highlight of the show, said Dr. G, was when Why accidently bashed me in the face with his microphone. But don't worry, I'm OK.
Then our new friends in Isaac Improv came on and rocked the Hill. These three fellas, Barack, Chip, and Donald tore the audience up with their unique take on improvisational comedy. Their professionalism was unmatched as they moved from skit to skit and kept the audience hooked from start to finish (my favorite part was their continuous "Shut up, Laurel!" poor girl). I shall stop here, because I am brownosing, but if you get the chance go see them.
So afterwards, we bonded some more, Laurel's friend Sarah developed a huge crush on Donald, and we said our "see you later's", and the DJ Why and the Image crew hit the road for some excellent munchables at IHOP. Wow, what a place. I had never been to IHOP, and neither had our friend Catherine, so it was an experience. All eleven of us packed into a booth and had a romping good time. We even sorted our dishes, camp style. Then we went our separate ways. A wonderful night all in all.
